Decorating cupcakes doesn’t have to be stressful and can be done using our easy to follow instructions.
Below we are sharing a simple step-by-step guide to decorating your baked cupcakes 💕
Place the cupcake on a flat surface and hold the main body of the prepared piping bag filled (see the “Make” section on our tips & ideas page with a tutorial on how to prepare and fill a piping bag) with frosting in your dominant hand.
BASIC SWIRLED CUPCAKE
For a basic swirled cupcake using one of the star tips follow the subsequent instructions. If you ordered a baking box, these would be tip numbers: B172, B1M, B852, C869. This same process will work for tip number: C808.
Push the frosting towards the bottom of the bag and onto the cupcake, starting at the outer edge of the cupcake.
Start swirling around the edge of the cupcake.
Continue working around the edge.
Continue around the edge.
Once you are done the edge portion, start piping towards the center of the cupcake overlapping what you already piped slightly and working towards the center.
Moving towards the center of the cupcake you’ll overlap some of what was already frosted.
Work in a circular motion, piling frosting on as you go to obtain the desired height.
To finish with a peak, release pressure on the frosting and pull up the tip of the bag.
Apply decorations, like sprinkles, for the final finishing touch and add optional cupcake toppers!
Store cupcakes on counter or fridge in a covered container. They are best served at room temperature day of or day after making.
