Thank you for choosing Kate’s Safe and Sweet, we want to empower families like ours to celebrate with less stress and more fun!

Below we are sharing some of our tips and ideas for using our mixes and decorating your baked goodies ?

Did you know that our mixes allow you to do small batch baking?  This means you can make 3, 6, 9, or 12 cupcakes at a time or a half batch of brownies.  Instructions for these are found below and also on the backs of our new mixes.

Follow our easy steps to create your baked goodies at home!  If you have any questions please visit our FAQ page or contact us.  We can’t wait to see your delicious cakes and cupcakes.

We encourage you to follow the directions on the bag of the baking mixes and follow our easy step-by-step guide to creating your cakes and cupcakes ?  If you’re looking for information on our brownies, please visit here.  For your convenience we have also created a small batch recipe card below with these instructions.  Be sure to follow the appropriate mix flavor when baking yours!

Please note if you don’t have apple cider vinegar or vinegar on hand lemon juice will work as a one to one substitute in its place.

We encourage you to follow the directions on the bag of the baking mixes and follow our easy step-by-step guide to making our frosting mixes ?  Be careful about adding too much of your (safe) milk when making the frosting.

For your convenience we have also created a small batch recipe card below with our frosting instructions.

Some of our early taste testers and pre-orders mentioned they needed to add a little more of their safe milk when making the frosting.  Just be careful about adding too much as it will make it difficult to use if it’s too runny.  If you add too much of your safe milk you can add some additional powdered (10x) sugar if you have on hand.  You can also try to place the frosting into the refrigerator and frost after it has been chilled for a bit.

Please note, after making frosting if you are using food dye separate frosting as desired in bowls if using more than one color of dye to make it colored.  Follow the instructions on directions sheet included inside the box of your food dye.

After frosting is made if you are piping frosting follow the instructions on the enclosed piping bag cutting template to prepare the piping bag(s).

Fill piping bag(s) with frosting.  Hold the bag in the middle and fold the top half down over your hand to open it up.  With a spoon or spatula, scoop the frosting and place it at the bottom of the piping bag.  Scrape the excess frosting off the spoon or spatula against the side of the bag before withdrawing it.

Only fill the piping bag(s) about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way up.  Use bag ties / rubber band to twist the top of the bag(s) if you’d like.

Remember always allow your cake or cakes to cool completely before starting moving to the next step of  frosting and decorating!

Using prepared piping bag(s) and optional decorating tools, it’s time to create the look you desire on your cake / cupcakes.
